You don't have to go under the knife to have a younger-looking face. Treatments such as CO2 laser or facial plasma can achieve great results without a scalpel. Fractional CO2 laser, also called fractional photothermolysis, is the paradigm of skin rejuvenation. A revolutionary medical-aesthetic procedure, the result of many years of research.
The results meet today's needs for results with little downtime.
The fractional CO2 laser, which is considered by many to be the optimal treatment for photo-aged and environmentally damaged skin, is a laser with the benefits of both ablative and non-ablative rejuvenation systems. It consists of the emission of a scanner-controlled light beam that penetrates the skin in the form of deep thermal columns down to the deep dermis. These thermal columns are microscopic zones separated by healthy surrounding tissue, which contains cells with the ability to promote rapid healing. The energy penetrating the deep dermis generates local heat that remodels collagen just like the classic CO2 laser, but without the side effects.
The result: faster surface healing in conjunction with dermal collagen remodelling.
The full treatment of the face lasts about 20 minutes, although prior preparation is required with a numbing cream that's applied to the area to be treated (face, hands or décolleté). Side effects are minimal, with swelling lasting one day and redness lasting 4 to 5 days. The skin takes on a tanned tone for several days and you can immediately return to normal life.
The results are visible from the first treatment and depending on the patient's possibilities they may need several treatments with minimal side effects or decide on a single session with minimal downtime.
After the session, a burning sensation is felt for about an hour. The skin becomes slightly tanned for about two days and turns a pinkish colour. In some cases there is a slight swelling which disappears within two days. From the day after the treatment, women can apply make-up and men can shave. During the process it's important to moisturise the skin.
Both the anti-wrinkle treatment, thread lift and wrinkle fillers can be combined with the fractional laser, enhancing the effects.
This is the information displayed by the ISAPS (International Society of Aesthetics Plastic Surgery).

This procedure takes approximately one hour, depending on the area to be treated. Some cases require more than one session.
Topical local anaesthesia is applied in the form of a cream.
This procedure does not require hospitalisation of the patient.
Temporary swelling of the treated area along with mild discomfort, lightening or darkening of the treated skin (hyper-pigmentation), acute sensitivity to the sun and/or increased sensitivity to make-up and skin care products. The skin may acquire a pinkish or reddish tone that will persist for up to three months.
The patient will be able to return to work in about two to three days, up to two weeks if the treatment is stronger. It may take up to three months for the redness to disappear completely. The patient should avoid exposure to ultraviolet light for three to six months. The use of sun creams containing UVA and UVB protection is recommended.
