Without a doubt, one of the signs of the passage of time that most concerns us all is facial flaccidity. This aesthetic problem, which affects both the face and the body, consists of the loss of firmness of the skin caused by a decrease in the elastin and collagen fibres that provide elasticity and resistance to the tissues. Over the years, the production of these proteins inevitably decreases, but there are also other factors that precipitate the dreaded flaccidity such as photoaging, smoking, genetic predisposition, accelerated weight loss or a sedentary lifestyle. And as we all want to correct flaccidity, in recent years the most popular medical-aesthetic treatments have been those designed to achieve a well-defined face and to reduce, as far as possible, the effects of ageing.<\/p>

There are many options to combat this problem and new treatments are appearing every day, but is it really possible to achieve a lifting effect without undergoing surgery? The answer is yes, thanks to the revolutionary medical aesthetic technique of facial tensor threads or \"magic threads\" we can fight against flaccidity and reaffirm the skin by stimulating the internal tissues without pain or surgery.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

What are facial threads and what can I expect after the treatment? Are they safe?<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Although it may seem a novel treatment, many years ago gold threads were already used to tighten the skin, however, the current technique has nothing to do with the old threads that could cause rejection problems. The facial tensor threads are made of a biocompatible and reabsorbable material called polydioxanone (PDO), it is a type of suture that has been used for years in cardiac surgery, so its safety is more than proven. Our body reabsorbs them between 6 and 12 months depending on their thickness. As they do not need anchoring, they can be inserted very quickly. They are known as magic threads because of their double effect: they tighten and redensify the skin thanks to the stimulation of collagen production.<\/p>

These threads have evolved until the appearance of spiculated threads. The advantage of these threads is that in addition to stimulating collagen, they allow us to tighten and reposition the tissues. The spiculated threads are mounted inside a cannula, which is a needle that has no tip, which makes their placement very untraumatic, greatly reducing the risk of bruising. Once in place, the cannula is removed and massaged so that the spicules are hooked into the skin, the thread is pulled until the tissues are re-positioned and the excess is cut off.<\/p>

The results are progressive and achieve a very natural lifting effect, the expression of the face does not change after the treatment and the quality of the skin improves. Although tensor threads are not a complete replacement for a facelift, they are an alternative that provides very satisfactory results for our patients. In order to appreciate the more biological results (collagen production), we must wait about a month. It is then when the first natural effects appear, obtaining a more consolidated result after three months. The duration of these effects is calculated at around twelve months, although the threads are reabsorbed after four months.
